Our story
Rob and Colette are here to help in any way they can.

The Stretton Garage was founded by John Fred Morris in 1934.
Having previously worked with a pony and trap at the coaching stables on Burway Road, he bought a plot of land in Sandford Avenue and extended the business to include a petrol station, garage, and repair shop, taxi service, and funeral furnishers.
His son Arthur Sydney Morris joined his father in the business after serving his apprenticeship in Craven Arms. They worked together until Fred’s retirement in the early 1950s. Syd and Bessie then continued to build up the business and extend the premises using the skills of his brother, who was a local builder.
In 1983 the company was renamed A.S. Morris & Son as Syd and Bessie’s son Keith joined them and with wife Janet, they worked together until Syd and Bessie took their well-earned retirement.
Their Grandson Robert joined his parents in 2001. After reviewing the business, they decided to re-prioritise; the petrol and garage services had already gone and the decision was made to cease operating the taxi service, and concentrate on the growing funeral business.
We are proud to have been running a business and supporting the communities of Church Stretton and surrounding areas for four generations and know that Rob and his wife Colette are running the business it could be one or both of their children who carry on the name.
A S Morris & Son Funeral Directors is wholly owned Mr K J Morris, Mrs J M Morris, Mr R D Morris & Mrs H C Morris.
